In June 2004, The Berkeley Group Holdings plc announced the conclusion of a strategic review of its business, the outcome of which was that Berkeley will in future focus on its urban regeneration business. In consequence it intends to return £12 per share to shareholders by January 2011. To facilitate the return, The Berkeley Group Holdings plc completed a corporate restructuring which resulted in The Berkeley Group Holdings plc becoming the new holding company of The Berkeley Group plc in October 2004.
